A note on titles, etc.; the images range from those where every part has a specific meaning to those that have no external references at all. The degree of visual abstractness of an image is not necessarily a guide to its position on that scale. Similarly the titles range from those that have a specific meaning to those that are only an aide-mémoire for a particular image. The relative levity of a title is not a guide to its position on that scale, nor do the scales run in parallel.
